This double-sided racing tee celebrates two exciting NHRA events from the late 1970s. The front of this shirt commemorates the 1978 edition of what is considered by many to be most prestigious drag racing competition in the world, the US Nationals. This event has been staged annually at the Indianapolis Raceway Park in Brownsburg, Indiana since 1961. For the 1978 edition, Don Garlits took first place in the Top Fuel Dragster competition, while Tom McEwen won the Top Fuel Funny Car category, and Bob Glidden placed first for Pro Stock.
The back of this tee celebrates the Summernationals, another NHRA drag racing event, this one staged at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park near Englishtown, New Jersey. The graphic promotes the 1979 Summernationals, during which Jeb Allen won for the second consecutive year for Top Fuel Dragster, Raymond Beadle won Top Fuel Funny Car, and Frank Iaconio placed first in the Pro Stock race.
