This amazing vintage sweater dates all the way back to the 1930s and it was made by the sports equipment manufacturing company Spalding. Named after Albert Spalding a pitcher and manager of the Chicago White Stockings during the 1800s, Spalding used to be a popular choice for sports apparel during the early 1900s. This sweater has been knit in a classic 1930s style with a v-neck collar and a wide waistband designed to be paired with high-waisted bottoms. The sweater bears a unique emblem on the front, belonging to Shaw University. Shaw is based out of Raleigh, North Carolina and it is the oldest Historically Black College to offer courses in the southern US. The emblem on this sweater closely resembles one that used to be seen on the school's football uniforms, at the beginning of the 20th century.
