This sweet vintage shirt invites you to visit Marlys' World, and her universe and her galaxy. Maryls Mullens was a character created by the acclaimed cartoonist Lynda Barry, and she first appeared in the underground comic strip Ernie Pook's Comeek. This strip was actually first published without Barry's knowledge, by fellow cartoonist Matt Groening and comedian John Keister. Groening attended Evergreen State College at the same time as Barry and took a liking to her comics that were published in the college newspaper.

Ernie Pook's Comeek later ran in over seventy alternative newspapers, including the Chicago Reader, which allowed Barry to start making a living off her strips. She later came to be known for her illustrated novel The Good Times are Killing Me and graphic novel One! Hundred! Demons! but Marlys Mullens remains one of Barry's oldest and most endearing characters.
