This sweet double sided tee commemorates the English ska revival band The Selecter and their 1995 Hairspray tour. Hairspray was the name of the band's fourth album when it was released in the United States but it was released in Britain as Pucker!. The Selecter is one of the founding groups of the 2 Tone ska movement, a ska revival that blended the reggae inspired genre with updated punk and new wave sounds.
The Selecter, although considered to be extremely influential to the revival, was first formed in 1979 and they broke up in 1981 after they released their album Celebrate the Bullet. The band then reformed in the early 1990s with founding members Pauline Black, Neol Davies, Arthur "Gaps" Hendrickson, and new members Martin Stewart, Perry Melius, and Nicky Welsh. Their line up continued to change and the band put out several albums, including Hairspray, during this period. They then dissolved again in the 2000s before both Black and Davies began performing separately under The Selecter name. Black ultimately won the trademark for the name and has continued to lead The Selecter along with Hendrickson.
