This awesome double-sided skate tee was made back in the 1980s when the sport of skateboarding enjoyed a rise in popularity thanks to the evolution of skate culture. Magazines like Thrasher and skate videos were developed. These pieces of media became a new way for skaters to connect and learn about new gear and tricks.

This shirt was made by the Newport Surf &Sport company, a California based business that began selling surfboards and gear in the 80s. The shirt features a variation on the company's logo of several hands joining to create a pentagon. In this version of the graphic the hands are skeletal and the text reads "100% Skate Boneriders". Colorful in your face artwork became a popular feature on skateboard decks in the 1980s, and skulls and skeletons were favored particularly by the iconic skate company Powell Peralta. Skeletal imagery was created for the brand by artist Vernon Courtlandt Johnson, and Powell Peralta even chose to name their professional skateboarding team The Bones Brigade.

The Bones Brigade proved that skaters could make a viable professional career out of the sport in the 80s, and the team consisted of some of the most famous names in skating, including Steve Caballero, Rodney Mullen, Mike McGill, Tommy Guerrero, Alan Gelfand, Lance Mountain, and Tony Hawk. This shirt from Newport Surf & Skate is an awesome piece of 1980s skate culture, which was likely designed to pay tribute to the popularity of the Bones Brigade and their influence over the sport.

Fits like a modern unisex adult Extra Large. This shirt is short, please check measurements. The hem has been undone and there is light discoloration the back, see pics.
