Kliban was an American cartoonist who spent much of his professional career illustrating for Playboy magazine. However, Kliban's greatest claim to fame arguably remains his lovable cat cartoons, which were first compiled in a 1975 book aptly titled Cat. The idea for the publication actually came from Playboy's cartoon editor, Michelle Urry, who accurately predicted there would be a large market for the charming drawings.
