This sweet double sided shirt promotes Black Death Vodka, an Icelandic spirit that actually dates all the way back to the early 1900s. That's when the Sigurdsson family first distilled the Brennivin that would become Black Death Vodka, but it wasn't until the 80s that the drink gained global attention. Black Death Vodka's popularity was boosted after it won gold at the 1987 London International Wine & Spirit Competition.
From there, Black Death became a cult hit, and the company even scored an endorsement deal with Guns N' Roses guitarist, Slash in 1992. Sadly the drink was also banned in the US that same year. While the ban was later removed, it originated when the ATF accused the brand of false advertising, claiming that the name promised poison and mocked the actual dangers of consuming alcohol. In response, Black Death Vodka introduced a new logo, which ended up being the top hat-wearing skull featured on this tee.
