This sweet shirt pays tribute to Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, the third spin off series to developed based off of Gene Roddenberry's Star Trek: The Original Series. After the success of Star Trek: The Next Generation, Paramount Pictures started work on commissioning another new live action series set in the Star Trek universe. Rather than being set on a traveling starship, DS9 took place on an eponymous space station. This was a first for the franchise, and the show also broke ground as the first to feature an African American lead with Avery Brooks in the role of Captain Benjamin Sisko. Other notable characters on the show included Rene Auberjonois as Odo, Alexander Siddig as Julian Bashir, Terry Farrell as Jadzia Dax, Colm Meaney as Miles O'Brien, and Armin Shimerman as Quark.
