This rad graphic tee remembers the macOS, or operating system, that was released on March 24, 2001. The letter X is meant to represent the Roman numeral 10, indicating that this was the 10th major version of Apple's operating system for Macintosh computers. Since its initial release, Apple Inc., has continued to build upon and release updates for MacOS. Apple kept a theme in naming their updates, first naming them all after big cats, like Snow Leopard and Mountain Lion, then naming them after places in California, like Sierra and Mojave.

What would come to be known as macOS actually originated at a now defunct computer company called NeXT which as founded by Steve Jobs after he left Apple in the 80s. Apple eventually acquired NeXT and brought Jobs back on as CEO. The original release in 2001 wasn't the smashing success they were hoping for so Apple continued to release updates in quick succession. As the system evolved, Apple introduced mainstay programs like iTunes, Garageband, and Safari web browser.
