This cool vintage tee pays tribute to the English new wave singer, Adam Ant, and the shirt commemorates his debut solo album Friend or Foe. Adam Ant first rose to fame as the lead singer of his band Adam and the Ants. There were two iterations of the group. The first released the album Dirk Wears White Sox, before former Sex Pistols manager, Malcolm McLaren, swept in and took the Ants to serve as the backing band for a new singer, Annabella Lwin, eventually forming the group Bow Wow Wow. A new version of Adam and the Ants was subsequently formed and they released two albums before Ant decided he wanted to pursue a solo career.
Adam Ant chose to keep guitarist and co-songwriter, Marco Pirroni, and together they wrote Ant's debut solo single and smash hit "Goody Two Shoes". The song reached the top of the UK charts and helped stir up interest for the release of Friend or Foe. The album breached the Top 20 in both the UK and the US and became Ant's most successful solo album. He went on to release two more albums before the end of the 80s: Strip and Vive Le Rock, before he chose to shift his focus towards an acting career.
Ant lived in Hollywood during the 80s and 90s, and took on several film and television roles. He also starred in a Manchester production of Entertaining Mr. Sloane and produced his own musical, centering around the lives of rockabilly legends Gene Vincent and Eddie Cochran, called Be Bop A Lula.
The tag says extra large but this shirt fits like a modern unisex adult large. There are light spots on the front, a repair on the back, and fading around the shoulders, see pics.
