WalkAmerica, later on known as March for Babies, is the biggest fundraiser for the March of Dimes organization. It' the oldest walking charity event in the United States. Proceeds go to helping mothers and babies stay in good health. President Franklin D. Roosevelt founded March of Dimes in 1938 as a response to the polio epidemic, during that time it was called National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis.
