This vintage Islanders hockey jersey from the 70s was worn by MacGregor in an encore performance in New York. MacGregor often wore a jersey from whatever city Foghat was in for the encore, primarily hockey jerseys. This jersey was custom made for MacGregor, featuring his last name on the back side.
The NHL team was only founded in 1972, one of three hockey teams in the New York metropolitan area along with the New York Rangers and New Jersey Devils. They won four consecutive Stanley Cup championships from 1980 to 1983, and held 19 consecutive playoff series wins between 1980 and 1984, a record across all professional sports.
This shirt fits like a modern unisex adult Large. The white at the bottom and on the sleeves is discolored, see pics.
This item is from the estate of Craig MacGregor, the bassist for the band Foghat in the 1970s, 80s, and again in the 2000’s. The item was owned by Craig, a collector of t-shirts, and stored for some time in a basement before it came into our possession. As a result there may be some lingering basement odor. All items are authentic pieces of rock and roll history and in many cases are one-of-a-kind. Further authentication and chain-of-custody can be provided upon request.
