This cool vintage tee celebrates the former professional boxer, Mike Weaver and it references his unofficial title as the "Uncrowned Champion". Weaver was a Vietnam veteran, who began amateur boxing during his time with the Marine Corps. He began competing professionally in the 70s and gained significant recognition in 1979 when he went up against the undefeated WBC champ, Larry Holmes. Despite losing, people were pleasantly surprised by the formidable fight Weaver put up against his high-profile opponent. The following year he earned the WBA heavyweight title, which he retained until 1982.
That year, Michael Dokes challenged Weaver and won, although many felt the fight had been stopped too soon. The two faced off again in 1983, and this time the fight resulted in a draw. Again many people believed Weaver was robbed, which led to him being dubbed the "Uncrowned Champion".
The tag says extra large but this shirt its like a modern unisex adult large. There's some discoloration on the right sleeve when wearing, see pics.
