This awesome tee is from one of the most popular marathons, the Honolulu Marathon. By this year 1988, the race had grown to over ten thousand entrants. The popularity of the marathon with Japanese runners has grown even more quickly. Ten years prior to this race in 1978, the percentage of Japanese runners was just under 3%, but by 1988 Japanese runners made up 49.9% of the entrants. Japan Air Lines became a sponsor of the race in 1985.

This year the marathon was also sponsored by AT&T and Fruit of the Loom. The left sleeve of the tee has the Fruit of the Loom logo on it.
