This wonderful vintage tee celebrates one of the most influential rock bands of the 20th century, Led Zeppelin. This shirt sports the band's famous Icarus logo, which was initially conceived for their record label, Swan Song Records. The image was based on a 1869 painting by William Rimmer titled Evening (Fall of Day), and it has since become synonymous with the band. The modern version of the logo was designed by Joe Petagno, the same artist to create Motorhead's iconic mascot, Snaggletooth.
This shirt was made in the 90s, well after Led Zeppelin's break up in 1980. The group disbanded following the tragic death of drummer, John Bonham, but their legacy has endured well beyond their active years. Throughout the 70s, Led Zeppelin managed to release eight consecutive number one albums in the UK, and six of those albums also made it to the top of the US Billboard chart. They are fondly remembered for songs like "Black Dog", "Dazed and Confused", "Whole Lotta Love", "Ramble On", and "Stairway to Heaven", which many people consider to be one of the greatest rock songs ever written.
The tag says extra large but this shirt fits like a modern unisex adult large. This shirt is soft and faded with some repairs, see pics.
