This cozy, waffle knit thermal was made back in the 1970s, and it showcases the artwork of Peter Max. Max was born to Jewish parents in the city of Berlin, Germany in 1937. His family fled to Shangai, China during the war, and Max's childhood in China helped to influence his later work, particularly the bright colors and fantastic forms he witnessed at the Buddhist temple across the street from his home. Max's family continued to move around throughout his adolescence, before settling in Brooklyn, New York. Max later attended the Art Students League of New York, where he studied under the illustrator Frank J. Reilly.

Max's colorful psychedelic artwork placed him at the center of the counter cultural movement of the 1960s, and he famously designed the flyer for the second ever "Be-In" gathering in Central Park. This shirt features his "Love" design, a colorful pop art graphic that was created in 1969. By this point in time, Max's artwork had captured the attention of the nation. His work was featured in an exhibition at the M.H. de Young Memorial Museum and he was also commissioned to design a commemorative postage stamp for the 1974 World's Fair Exposition.

The tag say tall XL but this shirt fits like a modern unisex adult medium. It is made out of a stretchy waffle weave material. There is a spot on the back of the left sleeve and on the right cuff when wearing, see pics.
