This vintage sweatshirt features a colorful cartoon image of a proud river rat, tubing down a river with a case of beer. This shirt was made in the 80s, when river rat tees were a popular staple for many t-shirt printers. The shirts were the perfect way to commemorate a summer spent along the riverbed, but they were also an homage to the kustom kulture and Zap comix artists that first helped to popularize graphic tees and apparel.

Graphics like the one pictured here drew inspiration from artists like Rick Griffin, Robert Crumb, and Ed "Big Daddy" Roth, whose vibrant imagery helped to define the 60s and 70s. As graphic apparel became increasingly popular in the 70s and into the 80s, many apparel designers continued to feature comically exaggerated cartoon imagery.

Fits like a modern unisex adult medium. This shirt is deadstock, unworn.
