This cool vintage tee reps Hawaii with a graphic of a traditional Hawaiian outrigger canoe. These massive, double hulled vessels are called wa'a kaulua in Hawaiian. They were used pre-European contact by native Hawaiians to navigate around and settle the archipelago. A historically accurate wa'a kaulua, named Hōkūleʻa, was built to celebrate the United States' bicentennial in 1976. The boat and its crew navigated from Maui to Tahiti without the use of instruments, thanks to master Navigator Pius "Mau" Piailug.
