This awesome shirt features the Rocketeer, an epic comic book superhero from the mind of Dave Stevens. Inspired by heroes of old Saturday matinee serials of the 30s, 40s, and 50s, the character first appeared in a 1982 issue of Pacific Comics' Starslayer. The positive response to this first appearance then led to the Rocketeer being showcased in an anthology comic called Pacific Presents. After the collapse of Pacific Comics, he also appeared in titles from Eclipse, Comico, Dark Horse, and IDW Publishing. After selling the film rights in 1983, The Rocketeer was also given a movie adaptation in 1991 from Walt Disney Pictures.
The adventures of the Rocketeer were set in the pre-World War II era, and heavily inspired by the sci-fi serial hero, Commando Cody. This tee features the girlfriend of the titular hero, Betty whose appearance was based on the famous pin-up model Bettie Page. Stevens was a big fan of Page, and he would later draw her in the Dark Horse one-shot, Bettie Page Comics.
