It was during a match against Jake "The Snake" Roberts, who was portraying a born-again Christian at the time, that Austin spawned his most famous catchphrase, a spoof on the well-known bible verse John 3:16, Austin taunted his opponent with the claim, "Austin 3:16 says I just whipped your ass!"
