This sweet shirt celebrates the 1984 Summer Olympics, which took place in Los Angeles, California. In particular this tee highlights the track and field events, which saw the birth of several new Olympic records. The games in general managed to set new records. Despite being boycotted by several Eastern Bloc countries, the number of competing nations at LA84 was a new high for the games with 140 participating Olympic Committees.

The United States managed to take home the most medals, and several of them were earned during the track and field events. Carl Lewis managed to take home four golds for the US, while Edwin Moses earned the gold in the 400m hurdles eight years after winning them in the Montreal Olympics. This was also the first time a marathon event for women was held, and this race was also won by a US athlete, Joan Benoit.
