This sweet sweatshirt celebrates the 1987 Denver Broncos team and their trip to Super Bowl XXII at the Jack Murphy Stadium in San Diego. This was Denver's second consecutive Super Bowl appearance, and they earned their spot by defeating the Cleveland Browns in the AFC Championship. 1987 was a bit of a strange season for the NFL, as it was shortened due to a players strike, and three games of the regular season were played by mostly replacement players.

Still the Broncos were lead by their impressive quarterback John Elway, and they advanced to the bowl with a 10-4-1 regular season record. Although Denver was favored to win, they lost to the Washington team. However the loss was accompanied by a historic moment, as Washington's Doug Williams was given the honor of being the first African American quarterback to start in an NFL championship game.
