This awesome comic book tee comes in a sealed package from the 80s, and the shirt celebrates the vigilante superhero the Punisher. This Marvel Comics character was created by Gerry Conway and the artists John Romita Sr. and Ross Andru, and he made his first appearance in an issue of The Amazing Spider-Man in the 70s. Known by day as Frank Castle, The Punisher was a grizzled war veteran who was spurred into fighting crime after he witnessed the deaths of his wife and children.

The Punisher was given his own eponymous series in the 80s, and before the end of the decade Marvel launched a second ongoing title centered around the character. This was in response to the Punisher's immense popularity. The illustration pictured on this tee appears to have been from this second title, called The Punisher War Journal. War Journal debuted in 1988 and its early issues featured the art and writing of Carl Potts, who is perhaps best known for his series Alien Legion.
