This sweet vintage is from the 1976 iteration of Day on the Green, a recurring concert series which took place in Oakland, California beginning in 1973. Held at the Alameda County Coliseum, the series was presented by Bill Graham and his company. The 1976 lineup included Peter Frampton, Fleetwood Mac, The J. Geils Band, Blue Oyster Cult, Marvin Gaye, The Temptations, Natalie Cole, Smokey Robinson, The Beach Boys, Eagles, Jethro Tull, Electric Light Orchestra, The Who, and Grateful Dead as well as many other artists playing over the course of several days. This particular shirt features the line-up from Day 3 which featured Boz Scaggs, Tower of Power, Santana, Journey, Jeff Beck, and Nils Lofgren.
Some of the days coincided with the San Francisco Jazz Festival, which made them not technically part of the Day on the Green concert, however they were played in the same location and under the same format. Jefferson Starship was originally planned to be the headliner for Day 3, but they were replaced by Boz Scaggs and Tower of Power. The Beach Boys performance on Day 5 saw vocalist and founding member Brian Wilson performing with the band again after a several year long hiatus.
Fits like a modern unisex adult small.
