This frozen pizza brand, also known by its former name Mama Celeste, was originally introduced in the 1960s. It was named for its creator, Celeste Lizio, an Italian immigrant who once owned a restaurant in West Side Chicago. In 1962, Lizio chose to close her own establishment and instead sell pizzas to other restaurants. By the following decade, Celeste had become one of the top selling frozen pizza brands in the country.
