LA84 is fondly remembered for being one of the most financially successful modern Olympics, and the city of LA was able to cut down on costs significantly by using many of California's existing sports venues.

Levi's was proud to sponsor the US Olympic team, and they outfitted both its athletes and the event's staff. The company was especially eager to support the games, after having missed out on outfitting the 1980 Summer Olympics thanks to the US-led boycott. To get consumers more involved in the event, Levis held a campaign in stores across the US, where Americans could vote for their favorite Levi's Olympic uniforms.
