The station dates back to the 1940s, and it adopted the moniker K-Earth in the early 70s, when station decided to switch to a "gold" format. From there, K-Earth became known for broadcasting "oldies" hits of the 50s and 60s. The station's new name was inspired by Earth Day, which had made its debut only a few years before, and K-Earth later branded themselves with the motto "Classic Rock and Roll". Their airplay consisted of hits from artists like Elvis Presley, the Beatles, and the Beach Boys.
