This amazing vintage shirt comes from the West Side YMCA and it dates all the way back to the 1950s. The West Side YMCA opened in New York City in 1896, making it one of the earliest YMCA's in the United States. In the 30s, the YMCA moved to its current location across the street from Central Park. The new building cost an astounding $3.2 million to build, which is about $57 million in modern USD, and was the largest YMCA in the world at the time.

Throughout the years, the West Side YMCA has had tons of unique amenities, including hundreds of guest rooms and a theater. There was also trade and technical school attached to the building which later become a college prep high school known as the McBurney School. It's widely believed that the McBurney School was J.D. Salinger's inspiration for the school attended by Holden Caulfield in The Catcher in the Rye. The West Side YMCA boasts dozens of famous former members such as Norman Rockwell, Marin Luther King Jr., Tennessee Williams, Bob Hope, and Andy Rooney.

Tag says large, but fits like a modern unisex adult medium. This shirt is distressed with some stains and repairs, see pics. Tag is champion running man.
