This amazing t-shirt reps the Beatles and their 1964 film, A Hard Day's Night. It's specifically in promotion of the movie's French release. The musical comedy follows the fab four over a 36 hour period as they prepare for a TV performance. The film was a hit in the 60s and it was often quoted as being the "Citizen Kane of jukebox musicals." Retrospectively, it still receives critical praise and it even appeared on Time magazine's list of 100 all-time greatest films.

The phrase, "A Hard Day's Night" was coined by Ringo Starr after the band once spent all day and night working. He didn't realize the time and began to say, "It's been a hard day" but looked at the window, saw it was dark, and corrected himself to "night." A hard day's night became a phrase that they all used and it eventually became the title of their song, album, and film. Because the phrase was a Ringoism, it wasn't easily translatable, so many countries where the film was released changed the name. In France, the film was called Quatre garçons dans le vent, which directly translates to "four boys in the wind." However, it more accurately means four boys who are in fashion, or four boys who are "it" right now.

The Beatles had a special relationship with France. The band recorded German-language versions of "She Loves You" and "I Want to Hold Your Hand" in Paris which was the first and last time they would record overseas. The boys were also known to regularly vacation in France, together or separately. John Lennon and Paul McCartney first traveled there together in 1961 with the intention of hitch-hiking from Paris to Barcelona but they were so enamored with the city that they decided to stay. During this stay in Paris was when the two, allegedly, began wearing their hair in the mop-top style that became the band's signature 'do.
