This sweet shirt celebrates the safe return of the Space Shuttle Challenger on May 6, 1985. The shuttle landed at the Edwards Air Force Base in California after a week long mission with the European Space Agency's Spacelab module. During the mission, which was designated STS-51-B, the Challenger crew used the Spacelab to perform experiments in microgravity. The mission also marked the first time that American astronauts were accompanied by live mammals outside of the crew, as they were joined by two dozen rats and a pair of squirrel monkeys.
