This amazing tee pays tribute to the 80s new wave band Culture Club, and it features a portrait of their iconic frontman, Boy George. This shirt commemorates a 1985 summer tour that the band performed around the California coast. This was to celebrate the group's latest album, Waking Up with the House on Fire, which featured the top 20 single "The War Song".
Culture Club had risen to super stardom during the early 80s, but their success began to cool off a bit by 1985. They spent an extensive amount of time touring in 1984, thanks to the success of their previous albums Kissing to Be Clever and Colour by Numbers. Amidst their commercial success, band members Boy George and Jon Moss began a tumultuous romantic relationship, that they kept hidden from the public eye. The pressures of both this and their mounting success pushed George to develop a drug addiction, and the band eventually fizzled out.
Despite this, Culture Club is fondly remembered for producing the UK's best-selling single of 1983, "Karma Chameleon". The band's sold more than 50 million records across the globe, and they were also style icons of the 80s, thanks to their groundbreaking, androgynous fashion.
