This amazing three-quarter sleeve tee is a keepsake from Iron Maiden's Number of the Beast Tour, which ran from 1982 to 1983. Also known as The Beast on the Road Tour, this was the group's second world tour and it saw them performing 188 shows in the span of just 10 months. This included a headlining spot at the Reading and Leeds Festival where they played to an audience of 40,000. This tour was launched in support of their highly successful third studio album, The Number of the Beast, which was their first record to reach the top of the UK charts. However both the album and the tour were met with significant controversy, particularly from American conservative groups.

The tour's US leg wound up being lobbied against by Christian groups that were convinced the album's title track and cover art promoted Satanic beliefs. Public burnings of the album were organized and some US venues wound up surrounded by activists protesting against the band. Iron Maiden remained largely unbothered however, as all of the fuss gave them great publicity, and if anything more credit among heavy metal fans. The record's title track wound up being the band's first top ten single in the UK, and the album is also fondly remembered for one of Iron Maiden's most popular songs, "Run to the Hills".
