This awesome tee comes in a sealed package from Comic Images. The shirt was made in the late 80s, and it showcases the iconic character Judge Dredd, who first debuted in the British comics anthology 2000 AD. Since his first appearance in 1977, Judge Dredd has become the comic's longest-running character and he was granted his own eponymous British magazine in 1990.

This shirt features an amazing image of the character drawn by the artist William Maher. This graphic was used as a cover for the American Judge Dredd series published by Quality Communications. Judge Dredd was one of several 2000 AD titles that Quality chose to repackage for the US market. This graphic from Maher was used for the cover of issue No. 12, which featured a story written and drawn by the creators of the character John Wagner and Carlos Ezquerra.

Since his inception, Dredd's dystopian storyline has been praised as a sharp satire of authoritarianism in both American and British culture. Around the time this shirt was made in the late 80s, the character was often associated with the metal band Anthrax, as he was the subject of one of their best-known songs, "I Am the Law".
