This incredible vintage tee pays tribute to the celebrated punk band The Cramps, and it features some wicked album art from Stephen Blickenstaff, which was used for the band's 1984 compilation album Bad Music for Bad People. Blickenstaff was a fan of the band, who created the image as a caricature of front man, Lux Interior. He met the group after a show at the 9:30 Club and was pleasantly surprised when I.R.S. Records later asked to use his artwork.
Pioneers of the psychobilly genre, The Cramps were a part of the early New York punk scene, right alongside musicians like the Ramones, Blondie, Talking Heads, and Patti Smith. They played regular shows at CBGB and Max's Kansas City, before relocating to Los Angeles in the 80s.
While some fans saw Bad Music for Bad People as a quick cash-grab from I.R.S., there was no denying that the record still offered an amazing collection of some of the band's greatest hits. Tracks included originals that were written by Interior and his wife Poison Ivy, like "Garbageman" and "Human Fly", as well as covers of classic rockabilly songs like "I Can't Hardly Stand It" and "Goo Goo Muck".
Fits like a modern unisex adult medium. This shirt is soft, thin, and distressed with several holes, see pics.
