This sweet vintage tee was made to promote the buddy cop movie, Lethal Weapon 3. This third Lethal Weapon installment was once again directed by Richard Donner, and it starred Mel Gibson and Danny Glover reprising their roles as LAPD sergeants Martin Riggs and Roger Murtaugh. Although critics gave it some mixed reviews, this 1992 sequel was a box office success that wound up being the highest-grossing film of the Lethal Weapon franchise.

The movie's distributor, Warner Bros. was actually so pleased with the box office turn out for the film that they wanted to reward Donner, Gibs, and producer Joel Silver with brand new range rovers. Executives invited the trio to a celebratory lunch where they wanted to reveal the cars as a surprise thank you gift, but they didn't anticipate Donner asking to invite additional cast members: Glover, Rene Russo, and Joe Pesci, as well as screenwriter Jeffrey Boam. In the end, they were all gifted range rovers from the studio, but only after Warner Bros. employees rushed around LA to secure one for each guest.
