This awesome double-sided tee was made for R.E.M.'s 1995 European Tour promoting their ninth studio album Monster. This was the band's first promotional tour in six years, and it was a massive commercial success. This was even despite several health issues that plagued the band over the course of the tour. These issues forced Bill Berry, Mike Mills, and Michael Stipe to all have to undergo surgery at some point during the tour. However, the group still found time to record most of their next album, New Adventures in Hi-Fi, while on the road.

When Monster was released in 1994, R.E.M. had already reached international success. Their first chart topping album had been Out of Time in 1991, and this record featured what would come to be their signature hit "Losing My Religion". Monster was another success, and it debuted at the top of the Billboard chart. The record featured a number of hit singles such as "What's the Frequency, Kenneth?", "Bang and Blame", "Strange Currencies", and "Tongue".
