Michaels is often regarded by fans as one of the greatest pro wrestlers of all time, and he later went on to become the Senior Vice President of Talent Development for the WWE. Michaels first joined the World Wrestling Federation in 1988, and he remained with the franchise all the way until his retirement from the ring.

For years Michaels headlined various pay-per-view events for the WWF, and he co-founded one of the franchise's most popular stables, D-Generation X. This group was conceived during the WWF's Attitude Era as a direct foil to the Hart Foundation, which was headed by Michaels' fierce rival, Bret Hart.
