New York hosted its first amateur boxing tournament in 1926, and since then the New York tournament has gained a reputation as one of the most elite Golden Gloves titles to earn. Both the New York and Chicago tournaments are open to amateur competitors living outside their title cities. This additional competition makes these boxing titles all the more impressive to win.
