This groovy t-shirt remembers the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, California. 140 National Olympic Committees came together for these XXIIrd Olympiad, which was a record at the time. Even with all of those competitors, Team USA still managed to finish with the most gold medals and most medals overall. There would have been even more competitors had fourteen nations from the Eastern Bloc not boycotted the games. This was in direct response to the US-led boycott of the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow.

Regardless of the potential for political strife, LA84 managed to be one of the most financially successful modern Olympics to date. This could be attributed to a combination of private corporate funding and keeping new construction to a minimum. Los Angeles chose to make use of standing structures, as opposed to building all new venues, like Dodgers Stadium and the LA Coliseum.
