This cool tee was made in honor of the British new wave band The Beat, who are often times referred to as The English Beat so as to avoid confusion with the American power pop group of the same name. The Beat were formed in Birmingham during the late 70s, and they drew musical inspiration from a wide array of genres, which included ska, pop, soul, reggae, and punk.
The band managed to release three studio albums throughout the 80s. These included I Just Can't Stop, Wha'ppen? and Special Beat Service. All three gained significant commercial success in the UK and spawned a number of popular singles which included "Mirror in the Bathroom", "I Confess", "Too Nice to Talk To", "Save It for Later", and "Can't Get Used to Losing You". During their early career they also became known for working with the cartoonist Hunt Emerson, who designed their iconic Beat Girl logo, which is pictured on this tee.
