This rad t-shirt is a keepsake from Van Halen's 1988 Monsters of Rock tour. This tour was actually the North American leg of the larger, OU812 tour in promotion of their album of the same name. OU812, meant to be pronounces "oh you ate one too," was the band's second album with lead singer Sammy Hagar. The album included the hit songs "Black and Blue," "When It's Love," and "Feels So Good" all of which hit the Billboard Hot 100 top-40.
The Monsters of Rock tour took Van Halen through 23 US cities during the spring of 1988. For this leg of touring, they were joined by the bands Metallica, Scorpions, Kingdom Come, and Dokken. Monsters of Rock ended up being one of Van Halen's most expensive tours, although it wasn't a financial success. In hindsight, many of their dates were on weekdays when their young fans were likely to still be in school. However, those who did attend had great things to say about the concert. Local papers gave the band good reviews, lauding Eddie Van Halen for his guitar solos and Hagar for his fun, energetic vocals.
