This awesome double-sided t-shirt features two big print graphics from Disney's animated masterpiece, Aladdin. The front shows the exterior of the mysterious Cave of Wonders, while the back showcases the enticing treasures that await within the cave. Released in 1992, Aladdin was inspired by a folktale from the famous Middle Eastern compilation of stories, One Thousand and One Nights, although interestingly enough the legend of Aladdin and his magical lamp didn't appear in the original Arabian Nights texts.
The Academy Award winning film received the Oscar for Best Original Score, thanks to Alan Menken, the same composer responsible for other Disney renaissance favorites like The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast. Within the story, Aladdin unearths a lamp containing a wish-granting genie, played by beloved comedian Robin Williams. The lamp is discovered inside the Cave of Wonders, which was voiced by Frank Welker, who also provided the voice for Aladdin's trusty sidekick, Abu. Welker supposedly based the deep, imposing voice of the cave on Sean Connery.
The animators for the movie based much of their designs on the work of celebrity caricature artist, Al Hirschfield. Although computer animation was used to finalize the scenes featuring the cave, viewers can still see Hirschfield's influence in the sweeping curves of the cave's facade.
