This awesome shirt commemorates the 1993 iteration of the Old Sacramento Dixieland Jazz Jubilee and it features a bright and colorful graphic with a humorous pun that reads, "The joy of sax". The annual music festival event used to be held every Memorial Day, beginning back in 1974. It was organized by the Sacramento Traditional Jazz Society and it concentrated on showcasing Dixieland Jazz but also welcomed performers of swing, ragtime, barbershop, and zydeco. When the festival's attendance started dipping in the 2000s, organizers began expanding the featured genres by inviting blues, country, and rock musicians as well.
The Sacramento Jazz Jubilee also has a significant history of showcasing youth jazz artists. Youth jazz bands from the surrounding area, either from local schools or private jazz clubs, were often invited to play hour long sets at the festival.
