This awesome tee pays tribute to the beloved Star Trek character, Spock, who first appeared in Star Trek: The Original Series back in the 1960s. This shirt shows Spock giving the salute of his home planet, Vulcan, and it also includes the accompanying Vulcan phrase, "Live Long and Prosper". This traditional Vulcan greeting was first shown in the Star Trek: TOS episode, "Amok Time", in which the audience was introduced to several other aspects of Spock's home planet and culture.

The Vulcan Salute was actually based on a traditional Jewish blessing. Leonard Nimoy, who originated the role of Spock, was Jewish, and Nimoy recalls first seeing the blessing performed when he was a child. Thanks to the cultural impact of the Star Trek franchise, "Live Long and Prosper" has since become a common greeting among science fiction fans.
