This awesome vintage sweatshirt was made by the brand Champion in the 90s and it features a unique reverse weave material. The shirt was made to celebrate the USA men's Olympic basketball team, also known as the "Dream Team". The 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona marked the first time that the American Olympic basketball team allowed active professional players to participate. The gold medal lineup wound up consisting of David Robinson, Patrick Ewing, Larry Bird, Scottie Pippen, Michael Jordan, Clyde Drexler, Karl Malone, John Stockton, Chris Mullin, Charles Barkley, Magic Johnson, and finally Christian Laettner, a collegiate player chosen to acknowledge the old amateur system.
Head coach Chuck Daly initially wanted Michael Jordan to serve as the public face of the team, but Jordan declined and Larry Bird and Magic Johnson were instead named co-captains. This honor was particularly significant for Johnson, who had retired from the NBA in 1991 after being diagnosed with HIV. This wound up being a life-saving opportunity for Johnson, who realized that he could still live a fulfilling life even with the disease.
