The school, located in San Luis Obispo, California, has a competitive University Jazz Bands program, which has been contracted to perform at some of the world's biggest jazz festivals like the Sacramento Jazz Jubilee, the San Jose Jazz Society's Sunday jazz series, the Morro Bay Festival, and Jazz Jubilee in Pismo Beach.
The '81 Jazz Fest featured performances by Tower of Power, an Oakland-based R&B group, as well as Cal Tjader, an American Latin jazz musician.
