This amazing tie-dyed t-shirt celebrates the first film in the Star Wars prequel trilogy, Star Wars: Episode I- The Phantom Menace. This 1999 film saw George Lucas taking the director's chair for the first time since the original Star Wars premiered in 1977. The Phantom Menace starred Liam Neeson, Ewan McGregor, and Natalie Portman, and it was the first of three movies that detailed how a young Anakin Skywalker grew up to become the villainous Sith lord, Darth Vader.
This shirt showcases another Sith lord, Darth Maul, a main antagonist of The Phantom Menace, who was literally a character derived from nightmares. Concept artist Iain McCaig was tasked with creating Maul's design, and Lucas encouraged the artist to base the design off his "worst nightmare". What McCaig came up with wound up being too frightening by Lucas' standards, and he revised his request by asking McCaig, "give me your second worst nightmare".
Fits like a modern unisex adult oversized Extra Large. This shirt is deadstock, unworn.
