This incredible tie dye shirt was made by Liquid Blue to promote Star Wars: Episode I- The Phantom Menace. This was the first film of the Star Wars prequel trilogy, which saw George Lucas stepping into the director's chair for the first time since the original Star Wars had premiered in 1977. The prequel trilogy introduced a slew of new characters and colorful new worlds to the Star Wars franchise, and this shirt showcases creatures encountered during a trip to Naboo, the home planet of Padme Amidala, the future mother of Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia.
Also featured on the tee are a young Obi-Wan Kenobi and his Jedi master, Qui-Gon Jinn, as well as one of the most controversial characters in the entire Star Wars franchise, Jar Jar Binks. This shirt actually references the part in The Phantom Menace around when Jar Jar is first introduced, when he leads Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon to the underwater home of the Gungans. While some fans and critics were vocally disgruntled with Jar Jar, as they felt he was too annoying and childish, Lucas and the prequel production team have stood by his creation. In more recent years, the character's had somewhat of a renaissance, becoming something of a nostalgic guilty pleasure for fans who were kids when the prequels first premiered.
Fits like a modern unisex adult Extra Large. This shirt is deadstock, unworn and new with tags.
