This awesome tee celebrates Jim Morrison, the iconic front man of the seminal 1960s rock band The Doors. The front features a portrait of the late great singer, while the back includes a quote from the poem "The Celebration of the Lizard", which reads, "I am the Lizard King, I can do anything". These famous words first appeared on the album sleeve for the Doors' 1968 release Waiting for the Sun. Fans quickly latched onto the poem and interpreted Morrison to be referring to himself, thus creating a mythical alter ego for the artist. Morrison embraced the nickname and the band began giving live performances of the poem, one of which was featured on the 1970 record, Absolutely Live.

This shirt was made in the 90s, long after the Doors had disbanded in the wake of Morrison's untimely death. Several compilation albums  had been released in the years that followed, which successfully preserved the legacy of the band. However, interest in the group spiked in the 90s thanks to the release of a biographical film which starred Val Kilmer in the role of Morrison. This Hollywood interpretation of the band's career introduced them to a whole new generation of fans.
