This awesome vintage skate tee was made by the company Birdhouse Skateboards, which was founded in 1992. The company was started by Per Welinder, a former professional skateboarder who had skated for Powell Peralta, one of the biggest names in skateboarding during the 1980s and the owners of the famous Bones Brigade skate team. The Bones Brigade was famous for featuring some of the most iconic skateboarders of all time, including Mike McGill, Steve Caballero, and Rodney Mullen.

When Welinder sought to create his own company, he initially tried to enlist the help of another former Bones Brigade skater, Lance Mountain. Mountain declined the offer, which resulted in Welinder instead partnering with arguably the most famous former member of the team, Tony Hawk. The two became equal partners in the venture, and chose the name Birdhouse after Hawk's nickname "Birdman". Birdhouse developed their own skate team consisting of members like Steve Berra, Shaun White, Andrew Reynolds, and Brian Summer. The brand is also prominently featured in the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater video game series.
